Asylum is named for the Richardson Complex in Buffalo, NY. Formerly known as “The Asylum” throughout the region, the iconic Richardson/Olmstead collaboration combined neo-Romanesque architecture with Olmstead’s extensive experience with landscape design. Closed in the 70’s, the massive complex remained deserted until it was recently and renovated to become a boutique hotel. Large portions of wood and brick from the renovation were salvaged and repurposed in our own taproom.
